DecoTurf Title Sponsor at High School Tennis Team Championships

Over the next two weekends 36 of the top high school tennis teams will descend on Louisville, KY to compete in the 8th annual DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships. DecoTurf is proud to be the title sponsor for the 4th year running.

Teams from 12 different states will compete in three divisions; Girls A, Boys A, and Boys B. On the girls’ side, Baylor High School tries to make it 4 straight titles. They have never lost a match at the tournament. The Boys A division has seen 3 different champions in the past 4 years. This year’s title is really anyone’s for the taking. There will not be an opportunity for a repeat champ in the Boys B division as the Latin School of Chicago will not be returning to the tournament. Read More

Olympic Tennis Venues: Who Takes Gold?

In honor of the Winter Olympics opening today, we thought we’d celebrate by counting down our favorite Olympic Tennis venues, since the sport was reintroduced in 1988. (Tennis had been dropped after the 1924 Games.) We compared venues on metrics such as max capacity, courts used, and whether or not the venue was still in use today.  Check out which venue took home Gold below!

7. 1992 – Tennis de la Vall D’Hebron, Barcelona, Spain.  Surface – Red Clay

Barcelona falls low on our list of Olympic Tennis venues, because they left eight of their 17 courts unused during the tournament.  The USA tied host Spain at 3 medals each, with the US earning two Golds.  Today, the facility is open and accessible to the public and a popular spot for Barcelona’s tennis community.

London Paralympic Tennis Event to be played on DecoTurf

Andover, MA – The organizers of the 2012 London Paralympic Tennis Event have chosen DecoColor as the new tennis court surface. The event will take place September 1-8 at Eton Manor, north of the London Olympic Park.

The new tennis venue at Eton Manor was the only facility constructed specifically for this year’s Paralympic Games, as the Olympic Tennis Events were played on grass courts. The brand new 10,500 seat venue features three show courts, nine competition courts and four practice courts.

The singles and doubles events will include 112 players from 31 countries competing for six gold medals. Esther Vergeer of the Netherlands is the top seed in the women’s singles as Shingo Kunieda of Japan will aim to keep his men’s singles title against France’s Stephane Houdet.
